TOPOSA: Warriors of the Eastern Highlands
The Toposa inhabit the rugged plains and foothills of Kapoeta, a landscape of thorn scrub, red earth, and distant mountains that shapes their identity as one of South Sudan’s most renowned warrior peoples. Their world is built around cattle, age‑sets, and the prestige of bravery, expressed through elaborate beadwork, leather skirts, and geometric scarification that maps lineage and life history onto the body.
