Mucubal People

Mucubal people, also called Mucubai, Mucabale, Mugubale, are a subgroup of the Herero ethnic people in southern Namibe Province that borders Namibia. The lives of the Mucubal are based on livestocks and agriculture. They preserve many interesting traditions. Girls have their upper teeth sharpened and lower teeth removed. Women wear large unique headdresses ompota that are made of a wicker frame, covered with beautiful fabric and containing tied cow tails. They wear an oyonduthi string to tighten their breasts as a bra that can be made of plants, leather, or plastic. Women and girls wear numerous iron anklets and armlets.
